According to data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, 7.1 mln ha of winter grain sowings from the general areas of 8 mln ha show good and satisfactory condition, or 89.6% of the general winter grain sowing areas. 0.8 mln ha (10.4%) are estimated as weak and thinned, nearly 600 thsd ha (7%) of winter grain sowing areas perished, declared the press-cutting service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy on April 29.
Grain traders in Ukraine have to reduce purchase prices UAH 200-250 (USD 1/UAH 7.925) due to the huge VAT debts owed them by the government of Ukraine for months, Leonid Kozachenko, president of the Ukrainian Agricultural Confederation (UAC) stated on Monday.
"Agriculture's share of Ukraine's exports has reached 25% and at the same time 56% of total VAT debts have not been returned to us in cash by the government. No single business sector should receive payment for debts in the form of commodities - by grain, spare parts, garments, metallurgists and chemists have no such possibility. It is distortion of a process of the debt return," Kozachenko noted.
Ukraine planted spring grains on 4.39 million hectares, or 58% of the planned total area, in the year to April 23, the Agriculture Ministry reported Monday.
Despite losses of winter crops sowing areas in 2010, the general production volumes of the harvest-2010 will stay at the sufficient level for the complete meeting of the domestic requirements of Ukraine, declared the association Ukrainian club of agrarian business.
In 2009, agricultural enterprises of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) received profit on sales of agricultural products and services at the sum of 65.8 mln UAH (8.33 mln USD), with the level of profitability of 4%, a decrease of 8.2% compared to the indices of the previous year, declared the Main department of statistics of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Ukraine planted spring grains on 3.72 million hectares, or 51% of the planned total area, to April 16, the agriculture ministry reported Monday.

Ukraine planted spring grains on 2.6 million hectares, or 62% of the planned total planting area, by April 12 compared with 4.38 million hectares, or 96% of the total planted area by April 12, 2009, the agriculture ministry reported Wednesday.
Ukraine will increase the planted area for corn, soy and beet in this year's harvest, while the sunflower and barley planted area will be smaller, the agriculture ministry said Wednesday.
