UKRZERNOPROM AGRO, ONE OF LARGEST FARMING COMPANIES IN UKRAINE. BEGINS 2010 HARVEST, USING 119 HARVESTERS

Ukrzernoprom Agro, one of the largest farming companies in Ukraine based in Kyiv, began gathering the 2010 harvest. On June 20 Ukrzernoprom Agro started the harvesting campaign of early grain crops in husbandries of Crimea and Odesa region," the company has announced in a statement. The company says early grain crops and rapeseed acreage for harvesting makes 57,900 hectares.

Ukrzernoprom Agro predicts whole yield of early grain crops to make some 195,000 tons, of them 110,000 tons of wheat, 27,000 tons of rapeseeds, 24,000 tons of winter barley, 16,000 tons of spring barley, 8,000 tons of winter rye, 4,500 tons of mustard, 4,000 tons of peas, and 1,000 tons of soya beans.

"The plan of harvesting operations is approved and all organizational and financial issues settled," the statement said. The company notes, all company's 30 enterprises area prepared for the harvesting, specifically, signed agreements with bakery combines of grain supply and storage volumes.

They will engage 119 harvesters in the reaping, they will transport them from southern harvesting regions to northern with help of auto trails. Simultaneously with the harvesting campaign they will be preparing soils for sowing winter crops.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukrzernoprom Agro expanded areas under the spring crops for the 2010 harvest by 110% or by 15,800 hectares, to 30,300 hectares over 2009.

The company has plans to augment its net profit 5.7-fold or by USD 6.9 million to USD 8.4 million on 2009. In 2009 Ukrzernoprom Agro trimmed production of grain and oil-bearing crops by 19.1% or 44,900 tons to 190,100 tons as compared with 2008. Ukrzernoprom Agro has been in the agricultural business since 1999. It operates in 12 regions of Ukraine, incorporates 29 agribusinesses and two machine and tractor stations.
