Ukraine planted spring grains on 7.48 million hectares, or just over 98% of the planned total area, to June 8, the agriculture ministry reported Thursday.
The ministry said on the same date last year spring grains were planted on 7.6 million hectares or 2% more than the planned total area.
Ukraine planted corn on 2.7 million hectares or 100% of the planned total planted area.
The agriculture ministry also said sunflower was planted on 4 million hectares or 8% more than the total planned planted area. Soy was planted on 942,000 hectares or just over 7% more than the planned total area.
