According to data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, 7.1 mln ha of winter grain sowings from the general areas of 8 mln ha show good and satisfactory condition, or 89.6% of the general winter grain sowing areas. 0.8 mln ha (10.4%) are estimated as weak and thinned, nearly 600 thsd ha (7%) of winter grain sowing areas perished, declared the press-cutting service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy on April 29.
The Ministry also estimates the index of lost rapeseed sowings at the level of 456 thsd ha (32%), 793 thsd ha (82.5%) show good and satisfactory condition, 169 thsd ha (17.5%) – weak and thinned.
According to the preliminary data, the general sowing areas for the harvest-2010 will total 26.8 mln ha, including 16.4 mln ha of spring agricultural crops (7.6 mln ha of grains and leguminous plants, 6.4 mln ha of industrial crops, 2.8 mln ha of forage crops), which corresponds to the previous year indices.
All categories of agricultural enterprises sowed winter agricultural crops throughout 10.2 mln ha (103% compared to the previous year), including 8.6 mln ha of winter grain sowings (104% compared to the previous year) and 1.4 mln ha of winter rapeseed, which corresponded to the previous year level.
Besides, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy declared that as of April 27, 2010, Ukrainian agrarians sowed spring grains and leguminous plants throughout 4.8 mln ha (63% from the forecast), including 4.2 mln ha of early spring crops (96%).
The Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Nikolayev, Odessa, Vinnitsa, Kiev, Poltava, Ternopil, Chernovtsy, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi and Chernihiv oblasts completed the sowing campaign of early grains and leguminous plants.
As of the reporting date, agrarians also provided the additional fertilizing of winter grain sowings throughout 7.8 mln ha or 98% from the forecasted areas.
