The pace of corn exports from Ukraine continues quickening. In February, the country shipped abroad a record corn volume for that month (3.7 MMT) and the greatest monthly volume since December 2013/14, reports UkrAgroConsult.
The current season features a record gain in rye supplies from Ukraine. So, the country exported 85.1 KMT of rye in July-January 2018/19 that is already 123% more than in the whole of MY 2017/18 (38.2 KMT) and the largest volume since MY 2002/03, reports UkrAgroConsult.
During January-February 2019 ASTARTA purchased 130 grain hoppers from Ukrainian producers “Dniprowagonmash” and “Kriukivskyi wagon construction plant”.
In the year 2018, Ukraine significantly expanded the geography of agricultural products exports, having entered 85 new markets, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) reports.
The oilseed crushing plant of Ukrainian agroholding Astarta-Kyiv in Globino district of Poltava region produced 40 KMT of soybean oil in 2018.
Last week, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine published preliminary data on the total 2018 harvest of grains and oilseeds. Officially, the harvest amounted to 69.8 MMT. In particular, the corn crop is estimated at 35.57 MMT against the previous official estimate of 35 MMT (24.67 MMT last year).
According to official preliminary information of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine on oilseed production in 2018, the total crop of sunflower seed amounted to 14.16 MMT, up 15.7% from last year. Soybean production was up 14.4% year-on-year at 4.46 MMT. The total rapeseed crop increased by 25.1%, to 2.75 MMT, reports UkrAgroConsult.
According to results of the year 2018, food production in Ukraine declined by 1.9%, while producer and consumer prices increased respectively by 9.6% and 11.5%. The analysts of UAC admit this based on the data from the State Statistics Service.
Ukraine has dropped one position in the top 20 agricultural exporters to the European Union based on monetary value, and is now in fifth position, according to the latest Monitoring EU Agri-Food Trade report of the European Commission, published in early January.
