Ukraine: state company “Zerno Ukrainy” to become the governmental operator of grain exports

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine initiates the foundation of the company “Zerno Ukrainy”. To date, several Ministries and departments coordinate the law project, declared Yuri Melnik, the Minister of Agrarian Policy.

According to him, the future structure will work as the operator on the domestic market for supporting of stable prices for grains, and even sell some parts of the product on foreign markets.
The new company will export 1-2 mln tonnes of grains, added Y.Melnik.

Besides, during the period from July 1 to October 12 of 2009, Ukraine exported 7.4 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 100-200 thsd tonnes compared to the same period of the previous year, marked the Minister. The forecast of grain exports from the country does not change and still totals 17-18 mln tonnes.

According to Y.Melnik, foreign markets became highly interested in Ukrainian soybean and peas. That is why, in the following sowing campaign Ukraine plans to increase sowings of the mentioned crops.
