Ukraine is likely to export in December no more than 1.5 million metric tons of grain, down from the average 2 million tons a month this marketing year, the Ukrainian Grain Association announced Monday.
Ukraine exported 728,000 tons of grain between Dec. 1 and Dec. 16, including 294,000 tons of wheat, 409,000 tons of corn and 24,000 tons of barley.
The fall in grain export in December is mostly due to the government delaying the reimbursement of value added tax to grain exporters, with the arrears currently standing at 3.5 billion hryvnia ($438.6
million).
