EU- 27 to remain the main importer of oilseeds and by-products from Ukraine

According to the data of APK-Inform Agency, in September 2009, the European Union remained one of the largest importers of oilseeds and by-products from Ukraine.

During the first month of the season-2009/10, the EU countries exported 4.6 thsd tonnes of sunflower, or nearly 70% of all export volumes of the product in the period. As a reminder, last season, Ukraine exported 371.7 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed to the EU countries, or nearly 50% from the general export volumes of the oilseed.

The EU increased general import volumes of sunflower oil. In September 2009, the region imported 178.2 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil as opposed to 59.7 thsd tonnes in the same period of the previous season.

As last season, in the current season, the EU countries bought the main part of sunflower by-products exported from Ukraine (meal, cake, peel). In the first month of the 2009/10 MY, the EU imported 78.6 thsd tonnes of the product from Ukraine, or 77.5% of the export volumes from the country.

During the period of July-September of 2009, the EU imported 479.3 thsd tonnes of rapeseed from Ukraine or 75.5% from the general export volumes of the oilseed from the country in the mentioned period.
