Ukraine to provide discounts for shipment of transit cargoes in several ports

The Ministry of Transport and Communication of Ukraine initiate the imposition of discounts for shipment of transit cargoes in several sea trading ports of Ukraine till April 1, 2010. The law project has the name “About Sizes of discounts to limiting blanket rates of payment for providing of loading and discharging works of transit cargoes in the ports of Ukraine”, according to the press-cutting service of the Ministry.

The project plans to improve tariff and price policy in the sea sphere and found favorable tariff conditions for keeping and attraction of transit cargo flows through the territory of Ukraine.

According to the project of the document, prepared by the Ministry, Illichevsk sea trading port will receive the discount at the rate of 30% for shipment of grains and oilseeds.

The Ministry of Transport and Communication also proposes to make 18% discount for grain loading at board-to-board variant.

The law project provides such discounts for grain shipment at the maximum rate of 20.69% in Reni sea trading port.
Besides, vessels with grain and chemical products cargoes, cruising through the navigable channel “Danube-Black Sea”, will receive the discount at the rate of 50%.

At the same time, the Ministry initiates 50% discount for grain shipment in Ust-Dunaysk sea trading port. Berdyansk sea trading port will receive the discount at the rate of 30% for grain shipment in big bags.

The Ministry plans to provide the discounts to nine sea trading ports of Ukraine for processing of the following cargoes, which form transit cargo basis of Ukrainian ports: iron ore, grains, coal, ferrous metal and etc.

As a reminder, in August 2008, the Ministry Cabinet decided to increase fee volumes in the ports of Ukraine by 58%. In 2008, the Ministry of Transport and Communication increased the level of blanket rates for realization of loading works by 44%.
