Ukraine July-Dec Wheat, Corn Exports Up On Year, Barley Down

Ukraine exported in July-December, the first six months of the current marketing year, 6.9 million metric tons of wheat, 4% more than in the corresponding period in the previous marketing year, the agriculture ministry reported Monday.

Corn exports in July-December were 2.5 times the amount exported a year ago at 3 million tons. Barley exports fell by 18% on the year to 3.8 million tons.

Ukraine harvested in 2009 46 million tons of grain in clean weight, which is 13.7% less than in 2008. The agriculture ministry said earlier it expected Ukraine to export in the 2009-2010 marketing year 20 million tons of grain compared with 25.2 million tons in the 2008-2009 marketing year.
