An international seaport of Turkmenbashi, officially put into operation on May 02, 2018, unites ferry, passenger and cargo terminals. Shipbuilding and ship-repairing plants are also located there. Total length of berths, which can serve 17 vessels simultaneously, is more than 1.8 km. Total throughput capacity of the port is 17 MMT of cargo excluding petroleum products.
According to the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority", in the first quarter of 2018 grain handling for exports in seaports of the country decreased 4.2%, compared to the same period last year to 9.9 MMT.
It should be noted that in March 2018 grain exports increased to 3.8 MMT or 30%, compared to the previous month’s 2.95 MMT. In the first half of the year, March is considered to be one of the most active months of grain exports, UkrAgroConsult notes.
According to the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority", during the first quarter of 2018, handling of vegetable oils in country's seaports decreased by 7.9%, compared to the same period last year to 1.4 MMT in comparison with 1.5 MMT last year. In March 2018 handling of vegetable oils reached 570 KMT, which is a record rate since March 2017.
