Ukraine: Crimea produced 95 thsd tonnes of rice

In 2009, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) produced 94.9 thsd tonnes of rice, an increase of 55.1% compared to 2008, declared the Main statistics department of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The expansion of the harvesting areas by 27% – to 15.5 thsd ha, and the increase of yield by 10.9 c/ha to 61.2 c/ja caused the growth of rice production volumes.

At the same time, in 2009, the general production volumes of buckwheat in Crimea lowered by 25% and totaled 0.27 thsd tonnes. The harvesting areas grew by 33.3% – to 0.4 thsd ha, but the yield lowered by 3.9 c/ha – to 7 c/ha.

Last year, millet production increased by 11.8% and totaled 1.92 thsd tonnes.
