Ukraine and Latvia are intensifying cooperation in agricultural sector

Ukraine and Latvia are interested in intensifying cooperation in the areas of forestry, fisheries, animal husbandry and breeding. This was discussed during the 6th joint meeting of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Latvian commission for economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation, the press service of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine reports.

As a result of the meeting, the parties, inter alia, agreed to contribute to the expansion of bilateral trade in agricultural products and to share experience and information concerning the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU legislation in the field of plant protection products and pesticide residues in the part of the supervision, control and inspection.

According to the Ministry, the turnover of agricultural products between the countries amounted to $52.6 million for 10 months of 2016. Imports totaled $23.9 million, showing an increase of $15.0 million. Exports amounted to $28.7 million.
