Ukraine already produced 1.74 mln tonnes of sugar

Sugar production in Ukraine as of December 6, 2016 was 1.74 million tonnes. According to the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers, on that date the country had processed nearly 11.86 million tonnes of sugar beets.

Now 32 plants are engaged in processing.

"In 2016/16 agri-year the Ukrainian sugar sector would produce more sugar than last season (1.43 million tonnes). Among the key reasons is the expansion of fields – 290,000 ha compared to 238,000 ha last year and yield growth – 481 centners per ha compared to 429 centners per ha," Head of the analytical department at Ukrtsukor Ruslan Butylo said.
