Ukraine: 2.6% of winter crops sowings perished

As of March 25 of the current year, winter grains sowings in Ukraine perished throughout 0.23 mln ha, or nearly 2.6% of the planned sowing areas, informed the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

At the same time, winter grains sowings in Ukraine showed weak and thinned condition throughout 14.3% of the general sowing areas, or 1.19 mln ha. According to the announcement, Ukraine will resow nearly 0.39 mln ha of agricultural crops areas or 4.5%.

Besides, ice over occupied nearly 0.68 mln ha of winter grain sowings in Ukraine, or 8% of winter crops sowings. Chernigov, Cherkassy, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Sumy, Polatava and Kiev oblasts still face the natural event.

According to information of the Ministry, 3.38 mln ha of winter grains sowings (40.6%) showed good condition indices, and 3.8 mln ha – satisfactory condition (45%).

Winter rapeseed sowings perished throughout the areas of 0.19 mln ha, or 13.2% of the general winter rapeseed sowing areas. 27% of winter rapeseed sowings (0.32 mln ha) showed weak and thinned condition. According to forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, agrarians plan to resow 18.3% of winter rapeseed sowings, or 0.26 mln ha.
