Yesterday, on February 13, with the participation of Mustafa Nayyem, Head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development, the temporary infrastructure at the future automobile checkpoint on the border with Poland - Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice - was opened. The ceremony took place as part of the Open Border project initiated by the President of Ukraine.

In particular, the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development installed the necessary modules for the work of customs officers and border guards, erected fencing and provided all the necessary communications. Thanks to this infrastructure, the clearance and passage of empty trucks in both directions has already begun.

"We have opened the temporary infrastructure at the future Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice border crossing point on the border of Ukraine and Poland. This was achieved in almost six months. We plan to fully complete the arrangement of the Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice checkpoint and open it for all types of vehicles by the end of this year. I am grateful to my colleague, Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Andrzej Adamczyk, for understanding the criticality of implementing such projects and for his willingness to act quickly and efficiently," commented Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery of Ukraine and Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.

The new Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice crossing point is designed to accommodate vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of 3.5 tons and envisages joint control by Ukrainian and Polish customs officers and border guards.

In preparation for the opening of the checkpoint, the T-14-18 Nyzhankovychi - Sambir - Drohobych - Stryi highway was also repaired. In particular, additional lanes, metal fencing, outdoor lighting and traffic lights, barriers, etc. were installed on the road section to the new checkpoint.

Last week, the Dyakivtsi - Rakovets checkpoint was opened on the border with Romania, and in November last year, the Krasnoilsk - Vicovu de Sus checkpoint was opened.

In addition, last year, the capacity of the Krakivets-Korczowa checkpoint was expanded and the operation of the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Poland was streamlined.
