Already this week, the agrarian division of NIBULON has started the sowing campaign of spring crops.
This year, sowing will be carried out on an area of 27,0 thousand ha, which is commensurate with the area occupied by spring crops last year – 29,0 thousand ha. At the same time, the distribution of crops has been changed. Thus, in the 2023 season, NIBULON increases the area of sunflower and soybeans sowing, while the area of corn sowing has been reduced instead. This is due to this year price expectations for commodity batches of grain and forecasting a better economic result. In total, 7 800 sowing units of sunflower, 5 400 of corn were purchased, the purchase of 40 tons of soybean was planned, and 500 tons of soybean seeds of our own production were planted and prepared for sowing.
Sowing, which due to the weather conditions starts later than it was planned, will start on the branches in Mykolaiv and Cherkasy regions, then the branches of Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia regions will join, and in the future – Zhytomyr and Sumy regions. Under favorable conditions, the company’s agrarians expect to complete the process by middle of May at the rate of 2,0 thousand ha per day.
Reflecting on the risks of decline in crop yields, Kostiantyn Khmelnytskyi Director on Agricultural Production of NIBULON has noted that they are currently absent. The company counts on the gross harvest of spring crops at the level: corn – 35 500 tons, soybean – 7 800 tons, sunflower – 43 600 tons.
