The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi called on EU representatives to support Ukrainian farmers and facilitate the spring sowing campaign. He stated this during his speech at a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the European Commission College, which was held in Kyiv for the first time.

Currently, Ukrainian farmers face two main challenges: conducting a high-quality sowing campaign and increasing the liquidity of agricultural products.

According to Mykola Solskyi, agrarians should be provided with seeds and fertilizers. This will ensure that not a single hectare is left unplanted. Seeds and fertilizers are the help that the Ukrainian agricultural sector really needs.

He also noted that Ukrainian farmers were suffering heavy losses due to low grain sale prices and a significant rise in logistics costs. Mykola Solskyi added that Ukraine needed to implement a large-scale program of simplified lending to farmers. The Minister appealed to the EU representatives to support Ukrainian agriculture.

He also emphasized the problem of russia’s artificial blocking of the grain initiative and called on international partners to work together to resolve it.
