July 8th, 2016 Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation carried out the roundtable within the framework of All-Ukrainian project contest Agro Challenge. The event was devoted to IT innovations in agricultural sector. The representatives of public and international organizations (UAC, UCC, FAO, U.S.-Ukraine Business Council), agricultural holdings (Ukrlandfarming, Astrata Ukraine, Kernel Trade) and IT companies (Intel, Ciklum, UA Technology, Skyline Software, USP),
as well as Ukrainian scientific and educational institutions (National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences), shared their experience of IT adoption in agri-tech sphere.
The participants stressed that the use of innovative farming systems will increase the income of agricultural enterprises up to 15%. In particular, the representative of Intel Corporation Vitaly Bragish mentioned: "Thanks to innovative data processing and cost control systems we could save significant resources of water, fuel, electricity, forage, etc."
UAC President Leonid Kozachenko said that "the true risk management is only possible through the introduction of IT technologies which should primarily be used in logistics, the ‘heart’ of any agricultural holding."
Other roundtable participants represented a variety of new items: from stickers with QR-code, smart phone apps and computer programs used especially to control the transport of agricultural products and fuel to satellite monitoring of crops.
The outcome of the event was the resolution, which provided for maintenance of the IT innovations and launching the AGRO CHALLENGE grant fund to finance modern IT projects in the early stages of development. This fund will be invested by companies and sponsors interested in IT innovation developing of the agricultural sector.
