All regions of Ukraine, except Luhansk, started sowing spring crops

As of 7 April 2022, the projected sown areas of the main spring crops for the 2022 harvest in the territory controlled by Ukraine are 13,648 thousand hectares, which is 3,268.3 thousand hectares less than last year (16,916.3 thousand hectares).

According to the operative data of the structural subdivisions of the military administrations that ensure the implementation of functions related to agro-industrial development, 23 regions of Ukraine have started sowing spring crops, except Luhansk, where fighting is taking place in almost the entire territory.

Sowing progress (thousand hectares):

  •  spring wheat – 113.5;
  •  spring barley – 550.8;
  •  spring rapeseed – 11.6;
  •  oats – 81.0;
  •  peas – 82.5;
  •  buckwheat – 0.2;
  •  millet – 0.2;
  •  corn – 13.6;
  •  sugar beets – 55.2;
  •  sunflower – 108.1;
  •  soybeans – 14.1;
  •  potatoes – 43.2.

Agricultural enterprises continue to fertilize winter crops with nitrogen fertilizers and care for crops.

According to the operative information of the oblasts, sowing of winter crops for grain for the harvest of 2022 was carried out on the area of ​​7.7 million hectares, including:

  •  winter wheat and triticale – 6.5 million hectares;
  •  rye – 159 thousand hectares;
  •  barley – 1 million hectares.

In addition, winter rapeseed was sown on an area of ​​1 million 24 thousand hectares, which is 143 thousand hectares more than in 2021.
