In 2009, Kazakhstan became the world leader of flour exports

For the first time, in 2009, Kazakhstan supplied 2.2 mln tonnes of flour on foreign markets, which totaled over 3.1 mln tonnes in grain equivalent. The country takes the first place in the world rate of flour exporters for the third time, declared the press-cutting service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

To date, the country supplies nearly 56% of produced flour volumes on foreign markets. In November 2009, Kazakhstan exported 294 thsd tonnes of flour, at the same time, in the whole 2008 period, Russia exported nearly 350 thsd tonnes of flour only, according to the announcement.

According to the press-cutting service of the Ministry, annually the share of flour exports as the product with high added value in the general export volumes of grains continues growing and in the current moment totals over 50%.

In 2009, the share of Kazakhstan in the world flour exports totals over 18%. Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan are the main consumers of Kazakh flour.

Kazakh flour millers plan to increase own export volumes to the level of 2.5-3 mln tonnes. The country also plans to increase the geography of exports. To date, traders provide negotiations with Iran, India and China.

In order to unite attempts of the government and business for promotion of Kazakh flour and macaroni products on foreign markets, , the country founded the united national brand of flour and macaroni products – KAZNAN.
