Ukraine harvested almost 39 mln tonnes of grain

Ukrainian agrarians threshed 38.5 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from 10 million hectares (69% of the target) as of September 18, according to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service.

In particular, the agrarians completed the harvesting of early grain and leguminous crops from an area of 9.7 million hectares, having threshed 37.5 million tonnes of grain with an average yield of 3.89 tonnes per hectare.

At the same time, 127,000 tonnes of buckwheat was threshed from an area of 110,000 hectares (61%), 62,000 tonnes of millet from 43,000 hectares (72%), and 660,000 tonnes of maize from 137,000 hectares. 

In addition, the agrarians threshed 2.8 million tonnes of sunflower from an area of 1.6 million hectares (26%), 583,000 tonnes of soybeans from 334,000 hectares (17%), as well as dug 1.1 million tonnes of sugar beet and transported 920,000 tonnes of this product from 27,000 hectares (9%). 

The highest yield of grain and leguminous crops was reported in Khmelnitskiy region (5.57 tonnes per ha), Ternopil region (5.27 tonnes per ha), Ivano-Frankivsk region (5.24 tonnes per ha), Chernivtsi region (5.04 tonnes per ha), Vinnytsia region (4.96 tonnes per ha), and Lviv region (4.83 tonnes per ha), the report says.
