Ukraine harvested 43.3 mln tonnes of grains as of October 23

As of October 23, Ukraine harvested 43.3 mln tonnes of grains, a decrease of 12.3% compared to the same date of previous year, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. According to information of the Ministry, agrarians harvested grains throughout 14.6 mln ha, or 96% from the forecast.

In the current year, the average yield of grains totals 29.6 c/ha as opposed to 35 c/ha in the previous year.

Particularly, Ukraine produced 21.6 mln tonnes of wheat, 12.7 mln tonnes of barley, 1 mln tonnes of rye, 0.52 mln tonnes of peas, 5.6 mln tonnes of maize (the harvesting campaign of the grain still continues).

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of October 23, agricultural economies harvested 6 mln tonnes of sunflower throughout 3.9 mln ha (94% of the planned areas). In the current year, the average yield of the oilseed totals 15.4 c/ha, as opposed to 15.6 c/ha in 2008.

Agrarians harvested soybean throughout 504 thsd ha (80% of the forecasted areas), the production volumes totaled 821.3 thsd tonnes with the average yield of 16.3 c/ha (in 2008 – 15.6 c/ha).

As a reminder, according to forecasts of the Ministry, in the current year, grain harvest in the country will total nearly 42.9 mln tonnes in clean weight as opposed to 53.3 mln tonnes last year.
