Ukraine exported 10.4 mln tonnes of grains from the beginning of 2009/10 MY

From the beginning of the current marketing year (MY, July 2009 – June 2010), and as of November 19, 2009, Ukraine exported 10.4 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 4.5% compared to the same date of 2008, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

According to the Ministry, during the period, wheat exports totaled 5.4 mln tonnes as opposed to 5.2 mln tonnes during the same period of the previous year, barley exports – 3.37 mln tonnes as opposed to 4 mln tonnes, maize – 1.5 mln tonnes as opposed to 0.672 mln tonnes respectively.

From the beginning of the current MY, Ukraine also exported 1.24 mln tonnes of rapeseed, down 33.2% compared to the same period of 2008/09 MY.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects for the harvest of grains in 2009 at the level of nearly 47 mln tonnes as opposed to 53.3 mln tonnes last year. In 2009/10 MY, grain exports is forecasted at the level of 20 mln tonnes, against 25.2 mln tonnes in the previous marketing year.
