As of May 11, Ukrainian agrarians planted spring crops (including corn) throughout the areas of 6.5 mln ha, or 88% of the forecast, an increase of 0.7 mln ha compared with the same date last year. In particular, the planted areas of early spring grains totaled 2.4 mln ha, or 100% of the plan, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Agrarians planted spring barley throughout 1.8 mln ha (100%), peas - 226 thsd ha (101%), oats - 211 thsd ha (100%), and spring wheat - 164 thsd ha (100%).
Also, Ukraine planted sunflower seed throughout 4.3 mln ha (84%), soybeans – 1.4 mln ha (67%), corn for grain – 3.9 mln ha (85%), buckwheat – 62 thsd ha (48%), millet – 40 thsd ha (33%), rice – 9 thsd ha (79%), and sorghum – 22 thsd ha (26%).
