Grain stocks in Ukraine on April 1 totaled 10.2 million metric tons, which is 26% less than on the year-earlier date, the state statistics committee announced Thursday.
Wheat stocks to that date totaled 4.8 million tons, barley 2.3 million tons, corn 1.8 million tons, and rye 600,000 tons.
Grain stocks held by farmers totaled 5 million tons, 23% less than a year ago, including 1.9 million tons of wheat, 1.3 million tons of barley, 1 million tons of corn and 200,000 tons of rye.
The rest of the grain was held by storage and processing enterprises.In 2009, Ukraine harvested 46 million tons of grain in clean weight, 14% less than in 2008.
