Ukraine 2009 Grain Harvest Down 14% On Year To 46 Million Tons

Ukraine harvested 46 million metric tons of grain in clean weight in 2009, which is 14% lower than in 2008, the state statistics committee reported Monday.

Average yields in 2009 fell by 0.49 tons a hectare, or 14%, compared with 2008, the statistics committee said. The harvest of milling grain in 2009 was 22.3 million tons and the harvest of feed grain was 23.7 million tons, the committee said, without giving comparable, year-earlier figures.
