Following agreements between the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland and the Lublin Voivodeship with the support of the European Commission (DG MOVE), the Uhryniv-Dolhobychiv border crossing point was opened for empty trucks.

This is a joint checkpoint on the Polish side, which is usually operated only for cars and buses. Starting from 4 December, trucks weighing 7.5 tonnes or more will be allowed to pass through.

"The opening of Uhryniv is the first point on the list of measures we are implementing to unblock the border, reduce queues and increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Polish border. We are working to lift the blockade as soon as possible, taking into account the interests of our market and the state," Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine said.

From December 4, empty trucks, including tank trucks, will be allowed to move without registering in the electronic queue to cross the border. The daily throughput will amount to more than 100 trucks.

A team from the Ukrtransbezpeka (State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety) will also be on site to maintain traffic flow and assist drivers as needed.

The launch of the point was made possible thanks to cooperation with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the State Customs Service of Ukraine, which prepared for the launch of the trucks in a short time.

Work is currently underway to implement other measures to unblock the border.
