Ukraine will fight to ensure that there are no restrictions on the export of its grain to the EU.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during a press conference with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky in Prague on Monday.
The Minister reminded: it is expected that on September 15 the restrictions should be lifted, their validity period will end. However, the voices of a group of neighbouring countries are being heard: if it comes to that, they will introduce their own national restrictions.
"We are absolutely, categorically against this," the Ukrainian politician emphasized.
He explained that such a step would violate the principles of the internal market, it would contradict the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and, above all, this step is against the principle of EU solidarity, on which this organization is based.
Kuleba called on the relevant countries "not to take the issue of grain export hostage to the processes of their internal politics."
At the same time, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy assured that Kyiv is ready to work with these countries in search of a solution to the problem and sincerely hopes to avoid the conflict. Kuleba emphasized that Ukraine is extremely grateful for the humanitarian and military aid provided to our country, but he assured that if these countries continue to act in this way in this matter, they will leave Ukraine "no other option than to resolutely defend its rights and the rights of Ukrainian farmers."
