The first non-self-propelled В5000 project vessel will be launched at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard in the coming days.

The construction of non-self-propelled B5000 project vessels (cargo capacity is 5 thousand tons) will be a new stage in the shipyard development. After studying the American and European experience, NIBULON’s specialists have created a new improved project of non-self-propelled vessels with a breadth of 17 m. Hitherto, the specialists have constructed vessels with a breadth of 16 m.

NIBULON’s shipbuilders are constructing other orders, conducting repairs and maintenance of the tugs, non-self-propelled and passenger vessels of NIBULON’s shipping company.

NIBULON’s 67th vessel was launched on December 21, 2017. Fuel has been accepted. The shipbuilders continue to carry out mooring trials. Loading tests of the diesel-generators and systems serving the power plant, fuel, gas exhaust and cooling systems are performed. The shipbuilders continue to adjust the systems:  a fire-fighting system, a drainage system, a bilge water system. The specialists are preparing to launch the utility systems: fresh water and wash water systems, a drain. Upon the trials completion, the vessel will be put into operation.

NIBULON’s shipbuilders are waiting for the delivery of TEREX FUCHS MHL 385D transshipment mobile crane (transshipment capacity is 4,000 tons per day) that will be installed on the non-self-propelled vessel. They will conduct loading and unloading operations in the roads and at the transshipment terminal, as well as will load non-self-propelled vessels to the full shipload on the Dnipro River. Total productivity of the loading crane is about 400-500 thousand tons per year.

The shipbuilders finish testing the spaces for tightness and painting them.  They have already painted the vessel’s bottom; they are preparing sides of the outer plating of the forebody for cleaning and painting. The loading and installation of deck equipment, in particular an after capstan, a forward anchor windlass, coupling winches has been started. The hatch covers are being produced. The vessel will be launched to carry out outfitting works and trials in February.

The sections of the forebody are being produced in the assembly and fabrication workshop and at the building berth. The shipbuilders continue to form the vessel’s afterbody.

The shipbuilders are cutting and bending metal in the metal processing workshop; they are producing skegs, assemblies and hull sections. The first bottom section of the second tug is installed on the building berth; the specialists are preparing the foundations of the main engines for installation. The hulls of both tugs will be formed on the building berth simultaneously.
