Ukraine exported 9.5 mln tonnes of grains

From the beginning of the current marketing year (MY, July 2009 – June 2010), and as of November 6, Ukraine exported 9.5 mln tonnes of grains, declared Yuri Lusan, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine. The rates of grain exports became higher compared to the previous year.

According to him, wheat exports totaled 5.1 mln tonnes, barley – 3.2 mln tonnes, maize – 1 mln tonnes. In October, Ukraine supplied 2.5 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects for grain harvest in 2009 at the level of nearly 47 mln tonnes as opposed to 53.3 mln tonnes last year. In 2009/10 MY, grain exports is foretasted at the level of 20 mln tonnes as opposed to 25.2 mln tonnes last marketing year.
