Since the beginning of operation of the Ukrainian Sea Corridor, the ports of "Great Odesa" have processed 120 million tonnes of cargo, of which 76 million tonnes are agricultural products.
In 2025 alone, over 28 million tonnes have been transported, including more than 15 million tonnes of grain.
Thanks to the Ukrainian Corridor, domestic producers have remained competitive in global markets and ensured stable foreign exchange inflow into the domestic economy. According to the National Bank of Ukraine, up to 30% of metal exports pass through this route. For the agricultural sector, the economic effect is estimated at 15-20% of added value.
The Ukrainian Sea Corridor has ensured the export of products to 53 countries worldwide, including Kenya, Djibouti, and Bangladesh. For the markets of North Africa and Southeast Asia, the sea route remains the most economically viable, as land transport would make Ukrainian grain uncompetitive in terms of price.
Despite ongoing attacks on port infrastructure, the Ukrainian Sea Corridor continues to operate and remains a key element of global food security, ensuring steady grain supplies to regions with limited access to other routes.
“Last year, in the Odesa region alone, air raid warnings were issued more than 800 times. The total time port workers had to pause operations and take shelter exceeded 32 days. Despite these conditions, the logistics process did not stop and continued to ensure stable exports.
Ukraine continues to play a critical role in the global food system. The maritime corridor is an instrument of stability that dozens of countries across various continents rely on.
This result was achieved thanks to the efforts of the military forces, which ensure the protection of port regions, and the daily work of port workers, engineers, logisticians, energy specialists, diplomats, and customs officers. Ukraine is holding the line – both in defence and in supporting global security,” emphasized Oleksii Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
The creation and stable operation of the sea corridor strengthens Ukraine’s transport infrastructure, contributes to the diversification of export routes, and increases the country’s economic resilience.
The Ukrainian Sea Corridor was created after the termination of the “Grain Corridor,” organized at the initiative of the Ukrainian President with the support of the UN and Turkey. After repeated blockades by russia, which was at that time one of the parties to the agreement, an alternative route was introduced, which was called the Ukrainian Sea Corridor.
Unlike the Grain Corridor, the new sea route allows for the transport of not only agricultural products but also other goods. This has become one of the key factors in economic stabilization during the war.
